Chadli Bendjedid (Arabic: الشاذلي بن جديد), born April 14, 1929 in Bouteldja and died October 6, 2012 in Algiers, is an Algerian military and statesman. He was President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria from February 9, 1979 to January 11, 1992.
