When the director of "Hotel Europa" finally returns, he throws Karl out, who thereupon simply rents a room as a guest.

When Hartwig learns of the chaos Gamperl has caused, he immediately departs for the village. Yet while he desperately attempts to put things to right, his wife then starts to think he's having an affair with the singer!

To resolve a feud between two villages over a horse, the burgomasters propose that a man from one town marry a woman from the other.
