Five "older" actresses vying for the same role decide to walk out on their audition. They end up on a road trip full of adventures and revelations.

Felix from West-Berlin falls in love with Thomas in East-Berlin. At first they keep their relationship going by regular visits from Felix, but the curfew forces him to return every evening. When the East-German authorities become suspicious, Thomas decides to try and flee to the West.

A man from Ostfriesland travels to Hamburg and sets course for America on a steamship to conquer this New World as well. What he leaves behind is a swath of devastation, a breach of confusion, a Milky Way full of music, a dead end full of mad jokes and perhaps a touch too much wordplay at the expense of others. The women gather daily for word of their husbands. The film goes back and forth to tell Ruth and Lena's story. How will it affect Hannah?

As the guests await Knut's arrival, they get the unpleasant news that he's been arrested during a demonstration; several propose that they should come to his aid, while the majority decide instead to go skiing as a way to pay tribute to his commitment to the cause.

During their tour, Werner Träsch and his colleagues Ralle Schieber and Tarik Büyüktürk arrive at a housing estate where the businessman Waselitzki draws their attention to graffiti. Waselitzki plans to rent out the apartments in order to then rent them out again at a higher price. Träsch and his colleagues want to prevent this with all their might.

The three garbage collectors accidentally get on the trail of a protection racket in the Neukölln neighborhood: Snack bar owner Mohammed has to fend off an aggressive gang of youths and eventually resorts to drastic measures - but Werner discovers that the situation is not quite as clear-cut as it seems. Meanwhile, Tarik's extreme jealousy puts his relationship with Werner's daughter Annika at risk.

In the third film in the popular series, "The Three from Garbage Disposal" have to embark on an unusual "Mission to the Future". A 16-year-old environmental activist is sentenced to a one-week student internship with "Captain" Werner Träsch.
