Long married 50-somethings Brigitte and Xavier are prize cattle breeders in regional France. Life is good, but the departure of their children from home has thrown Brigitte’s world into flux, as she finds herself locked into routine. She keeps hoping for something else, something more. A party held by students on the adjoining property accelerates this latent crisis and Brigitte impulsively sets off for Paris under the guise of a doctor’s appointment. The city immediately invigorates her, and when she meets a charming Danish gentleman, she impulsively allows herself to be flattered by his attentions…

A novelist, an actress, and a struggling young singer all attempt to make their mark in modern day Paris in director Marc Fitoussi's cynical entertainment industry satire. Bertrand is a French literary professor whose students all know that he is shacked up with pretty math teacher Solange despite the couple's best efforts to keep their relationship under the radar. Though no one in the school much cares for Bertrand's prose, self-flagellating student Frederic is the one notable exception. Meanwhile, as Bertrand struggles to deliver his second novel, recent big city arrival Cora finds that her fondness for outmoded songwriters may be having an adverse effect on her career trajectory. While Cora struggles to make ends meet by working at a popular chain steakhouse, even this attempt to remain afloat ultimately proves disastrous.

Stereolab’s most recent album is 2025’s Instant Holograms on Metal Film. Five months after that album’s release, Stereolab found themselves at the storied Minneapolis music venue First Avenue, where they performed to a sold-out room filled with enthusiastic fans. Stereolab treated the energetic crowd to a rich array of songs from the new album, as well as several selections from their back catalogue, including one from their second EP, Super-Electric, released in 1991.

Anglo-French avant-pop group Stereolab, who were one of the guest curators of Le Guess Who? 2023, perform as closing act of the festival.
