Musmanno's book Ten Days to Die, Oscar Werner costars as fictional Nazi Hauptmann Wüst, a disillusioned middleman.

It is with this background that Nadja, a Russian spy, meets the Austrian civil servant Stefan. He loves her, but comes under suspicion of being an agent because of this love.

In a small town, the dancer Inge Maria Torselli is very popular with the theater audience. Her father is a ballet master and trained her. Lieutenant Count von Arenheim falls in love with her. But his childhood friend Harald von Bodenstein is also at her feet. When Albers takes his drug-addicted opera star sister Gerda to a sanitarium, they both become targets of slimy dope peddler Peter Lorre, who fears that Gerda will blow the whistle on him. Lorre kidnaps the woman, leading Albers on a frantic chase.

Bill's girlfriend Lore is an art student in Berlin. Since her professor doesn't think much of painting women, she exchanges a genuine Raphael painting in a gallery for a copy made by her. In a spectacular theft, the copy is stolen. Detective Keller suspects Bill and Lore. But Bill, who is a talented quick-change artist, keeps escaping arrest by constantly altering his appearance.
