Leopold and Franz are coach drivers and best friends. Their relationship gets strained when Franz decides to modernize by buying a taxi cab. Leopold, grumpy keeper of tradition, is not pleased.

Friedrich is the clumsy husband from whom his better half vainly expects a wild temper. He wants to make his wife, who is flirting with divorce and the house friend, jealous by feigning an affair. In the made-up country of Alanien, King Alexander I has been overthrown while abroad. Now, he's in Vienna with his daughter, the city of his fondest memories since studying there as a boy. It doesn't take long for the charm of Vienna to work its magic on the former king: he quickly comes to terms with the new situation and is able to enjoy the Austrian capital sans all the ceremony and trappings which would otherwise accompany him on a state visit. The princess is content with preparing herself for a career as a pianist concert, while the former king takes a job as a chauffeur in the embassy of the country he once ruled. The revolutionaries are shocked; and his days in Vienna are numbered.

The storyline of this episodic film, made on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), is a PR team's train journey through Austria. The professionals are to use the inspiring surroundings to develop a new advertising concept for ÖBB. Various stories are embedded, in each of which the railroad naturally plays a leading role.

Peter Hartung, a student at the technical college, just wanted to take his little brother Paul to boarding school. On the way there, his friend Hans Werner tries to persuade him to swap roles. Peter wouldn't dream of going to school for Hans, but only changes his mind when he makes the acquaintance of Christa, who works at the neighboring fashion school. He has no idea that Christa has just broken off her engagement to Dr. Werner, his future literature teacher. The lessons with his jealous ex-fiancé turn into a gauntlet, but this does nothing to dampen the general good mood. Brother Paul also causes a lot of excitement. Not a day goes by without him plotting a prank. Within the sacred school walls, the wildest boarding school comedy since the introduction of compulsory education unfolds - explosions, police action and fire alarms - but principal Dr. Schwabmann takes it all in his stride.

Based on the operetta of the same name by Carl Milöcker. The residents of an Austrian town decide to teach their eccentric mayor a lesson. A young fisherman dresses up as the famous bandit Gaspare and goes to see the mayor. The mayor, terrified, flees from "Gaspare" and commits a series of ridiculous acts, becoming the laughing stock of the whole town.

Landowner Klapproth would love to have his nephew Alfred show him the inside of an insane asylum and meet real lunatics, promising to financially support him in starting a business. Alfred's friend Ernst Kissling recommends that he show his uncle the Schöller Guesthouse, whose guests are quite eccentric. Landowner Klapproth, who truly believes the guests to be lunatics, is thoroughly amused.
