American pianist Eric Lu is one of the rising stars of his generation. As part of europiano, ARTE's special day celebrating the piano concerto across Europe, Lu plays for the first time with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by its principal conductor Ryan Bancroft. A dream has come true for Yuja Wang: for the first time, she is more than “just” the star soloist—from the piano, she conducts the Mahler Chamber Orchestra in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein. In George Gershwin's popular and jazzy Rhapsody in Blue, she shines alongside solo clarinetist Jaan Bossier.

In the second part of this magnificent concert celebrating music from across Europe, Lukas Sternath, Martha Argerich, Bruce Liu and Hayato Sumino perform the finest piano concertos by Beethoven, Schumann, Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff.

The programme for this exceptional concert features works by Brahms, Grieg, Chopin, Beethoven, Ravel and Mozart.
