10-year-old Rosmarin von Stetten lives with his widowed father Robert in the big city. During the holidays one day in the morning Rosmarin goes to the lake near the castle and meets Thymian, the poorest boy of the village, whose mother did not come back from the war and who has to do several jobs in the village for his living. The boys enter a boat, but both fall into the lake. Thymian crawls out of the water first and is found by a servant from the castle, who thinks he is Rosmarin and bring him to the castle and to bed. The boy doesn't know what happens and thinks he's spellbound...

A theater competition breaks out on the occasion of the four-year anniversary celebrations at the Hennigsberg power plant. The old hands want to perform the kitschy musical comedy "Gärtnerliesl". The youngsters are against it and are planning their own program with which they want to skewer events from the plant in a cabaret style. Even Alexander's twin daughters Billy and Bobby and grandma Arkens have the sympathetic Dalli closed in her heart. But while the witty twins enjoy country life, the Immenhof is once again in financial trouble. A loan, which is due to be repaid, is a big concern for Dalli and Alexander. While Dalli wants to ask for help at her former job, Alexander wants to come to money on his own. This is the big noise preprogrammed.

Then Alexander receives the message that the owner of the farm wants to increase the rent. A little later, Dalli, the farm owner, visits the estate of her youth. There is a huge spark between her and Alexander.

After fleeing from East Prussia, waitress Ännchen has found a new home in a West German wine town. She looks after a young war orphan. One day his missing father turns up. He falls in love with Ännchen.
