Ali Namous

Historical biopic that traces the life and struggle of Zighoud Youcef (1921-1956), a prominent martyr (“chahid”) of the Algerian War of Independence.

The kidnapping of a little girl creates tension and suspicion in Algiers. Only Dounia, a brilliant psychiatrist, and Sami, a police inspector, can unearth the demons of the past.

Two parallel stories. In the present day, the disciple of an old Raqi (a Muslim exorcist) fears that his master’s dementia will unleash evil. In 1992, after a car accident that left him with amnesia, Ahmed returns to his village, where nothing seems familiar to him: neither his wife nor his children. His youngest son, frightened by Ahmed’s bandaged face, is deeply afraid of him.

The events revolve around a mother and her daughter over two different time periods, as their lives witness many major changes and transformations that may affect them and the people around them.
