On June 17, 1953, there was an outrageous action between the Elbe and the Oder: the people in the GDR refused obedience to their political leadership. The story takes place in Bitterfeld and tells the story of a family involved in the political events around 17 June.

What seems like routine for Billy Kuckuck ends dramatically for her quick-tempered client Karl Löwe: he ends up in hospital with a heart attack. The owner of a traditional pastry shop is alleged to have bought an e-scooter online and not paid for it. He stubbornly insists that he neither ordered nor received the scooter. Billy sees things differently, and this time she wants to follow the rules to the letter.

Snow White’s stepmother is jealous of her beauty. So great was her vanity that she kept asking her magic mirror: "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who in this land is fairest of all?". And he replied that Snow White was a thousand times more beautiful than she was. The vain queen refuses to accept this and decides that Snow White must die.

Because the rather gruff debtor Jule Hellwig won't let them into her apartment under any circumstances, Billy Kuckuck doesn't hesitate and confiscates Mrs. Hellwig's car.

Billy Kuckuck is robbed of her briefcase, which also contains all her money, by a boy at an appointment - who should clearly be at school at this time. It is only by chance that she meets the thieving boy again when she demands the money for a kitchen stove she has sold from her single mother Louisa. It soon becomes clear that Louisa is in a more problematic situation than the unpaid stove initially suggested. The boy is her son and his name is Marcel.

Nicole Wagner finds out by chance that her son cannot be the son she once fathered with the scaffolder Grille. Nine years ago there was a mix-up with an infant named Sebastian, the son of the academic couple Callenberg, who live at the other end of Freiburg in very different circumstances to Nicole and Grille in their middle-class environment. Grille is inquisitive about the unknown son, unlike Nicole, who is very upset, as are Sven and Britta Callenberg. But what can be done? The children are anchored in their families, they are loved and nobody wants to make them unhappy. The parents reserve the right to leave everything as it is. But their thoughts about their biological son do not subside...

Since Betti's boyfriend Rolf doesn't have time for her at Christmas this year either - which is not surprising as he is married - it looks as if she will have to celebrate alone again. The planned trip with her friend can't take place because Ellen has once again met the man for life and would rather travel with him. When neighbor Sven wants to pick up the Christmas present for his children in the form of a dwarf rabbit on Christmas Eve, a wild chase ensues across Betti's bathroom.

Gerri does not like anymore. Stylishly she wants to promote herself to the hereafter. She does not mince words in her farewell letters. But then the tablets do not work. "You are not the problem, you are the solution!" Her friend Charly tries to comfort her. And she's right: Gerri grabs himself by the head, pulls himself out of the mess and orders the chaos that has triggered them.

Former boxing world champion Kai Burdenski is up to his ears in debt and can neither pay rent nor electricity for his boxing school. This is tragic not least because he trains teenagers from youth welfare, for whom his run-down hall has become a home. In particular, the young, talented asylum seeker Samy, who lost her entire family while fleeing Afghanistan, has taken Burdenski under his wing. It doesn't take long for bailiff Billy Kuckuck to understand that the former boxing professional is more than just a coach for Samy and the other young people, namely also a social worker and surrogate father. Therefore, Billy looks for ways and means to help the boxing legend, and turns to his daughter Jessica. But she only saw her father from his worst sides during his sports career and doesn't want to hear anything from him anymore. Burdenski's stubbornness and pride are not helpful here either.

Organic farmer Tanja Pohlmann is on the brink of financial ruin - can Billy Kuckuck help the family? As "one with a heart", Aglaia Szyszkowitz always sees her job as a bailiff as a challenge and an opportunity to help people in financial difficulties. Even if this means that she sometimes has to interfere in the lives of her current "cases". Fresh from the divorce court, Billy Kuckuck is hired by farmer Röschke to collect a personal loan from Tanja Pohlmann. Her husband, who recently died in an accident, had taken out the loan with Röschke to build the new farm store without her knowledge. The demand for repayment could mean final ruin for Tanja Pohlmann, who is already at the end of her tether and unable to manage the indebted farm.

Tatort is a long-running German/Austrian/Swiss crime television series set in various parts of these countries. The show is broadcast on the channels of ARD in Germany, ORF in Austria and SF1 in Switzerland.
