The train goes to Moscow. In the same carriage with the railway workers who are going to the meeting, there is a Chinese writer collecting material for his future novel about the people of Soviet Kazakhstan. He discovers an old newspaper in his archive. The newspaper contains photos of the best drummers — builders of Turksib: Ospan, Hakim, Boris, Hadisha and others. They turn out to be the writer's neighbors on the car — yesterday's ordinary workers, builders, now the most prominent statesmen, heads of railways. At the request of the writer, Ospan tells a touching story of their life and love.

At the collective farm’s animal-breeding station, the young naturalists lose a fox named Serebryanka, which has run away. The children ask an old hunter, Mukhtar-aga, to catch the fox with the help of a golden eagle. The hunter agrees. In the duel with the fox, however, the eagle is defeated. Mukhtar-aga is distressed: the bird is no longer fit for hunting. Then the children decide to catch a young eaglet and give it to Mukhtar-aga. Khasen and Sasha set off for the mountains…

The events of a dynamic, action-packed film take place in the 20s. The main character of the picture is the red commander Rude, a man unrestrainedly brave, courageous and devoted to his work. His opponent is the cunning, insidious and elusive ataman Kudre. Tracking down his gang, Hamit at some point falls into a trap himself and becomes a prisoner of the chieftain.

On one of those days, when she fell in love with a young machine operator from Tanabay's neighboring brigade, Zhauhaz realized how vast life was and how fragile the bonds of old customs that tied her to an unloved man were.

The youngest son of the herdsman Yerzhan — the ninth son of Yerkenzhe, goes in search of his father and eight brothers, bewitched by the evil Tasbol into stone idols. By the power of his spirit, Yerkenzhe overcomes the spell of Tasbol and frees his loved ones.

Commissar Ali-Akbar travels a thousand miles across the desert with his international detachment, trying to deliver weapons to the Red Army during the civil war in Kazakhstan.
