Cosima is furious about the project and visits the landlord to dissuade him from his plans, but she is shocked when she comes face to face with a homeless alcoholic. Her plan is in danger of failing unless she can turn the bum into a decent person.

Seven directors remember their childhood and youth; to the 50s and 60s in the GDR. They appear to be curious, vulnerable children and teenagers who also want to be cool (even though the word doesn't exist for them yet). They live in well-adjusted or resistant families. Some only in half because their father left for the West. Depending on their family background, they want or should help build the new, better Germany.

The leather designer Vera Klunert can not believe it: her husband Andreas, with whom she is happily married, has simply kept secret her impending insolvency of the family business! Only a potential investor can help now. Ironically, in the rescue promising Viennese entrepreneur Werner Hausmann but Vera meets her great love again! As frustration grows, Daniel has trouble keeping his career in balance with his family-life: his wife Wanda wants to leave for West-Germany.

Conny Stein from the ordnance disposal service in Dresden has to defuse a bomb on his last day of work before retirement, on a construction site in a power plant. In the process, he discovers a girl who had previously come to the city in a minibus full of refugees and does not speak a word.

Red Berlin from the 1910s to the resistance against National Socialism comes to life as a proletarian family history. The siblings of Ernst Knaack, a communist who was executed in 1944, talk about their childhood and youth, which they spent with their grandparents. Their grandfather, a former sailor who took part in the November Revolution and was a member of the Workers' and Soldiers' Council, ran the Zum Kuli pub in Prenzlauer Berg—a workers' pub that was also frequented by the unemployed and homeless, where party meetings were held and leading KPD members such as August Bebel and Hermann Duncker were regulars.

Polizeiruf 110 is a long-running German language detective television series. The first episode was broadcast 27 June 1971 in the German Democratic Republic, and after the dissolution of Fernsehen der DDR the series was picked up by ARD. It was originally created as a counterpart to the West German series Tatort, and quickly became a public favorite.

Stubbe – Von Fall zu Fall is a German crime detective television series starring Wolfgang Stumph as detective Stubbe. It is being broadcast on ZDF, the second German public television channel since 1995.
