Baraguru Ramachandrappa

A lovelorn village boy and girl cross all barriers of caste and tradition to unite in a meaningful manner.

Janapada tells the story of folk singer Chandranna, who feels that singing and entertaining people is better than any recognition from the government. His singing attracts many people including a city-bred girl who decides to stay in the village to be close to him. Meanwhile, Chandranna receives an award from the government, which makes him a target of envy. The village head, priest and a rival singer plot to defame the singer by spreading rumours about him. They even impose a ban on the singer to keep him away from the public.

Despite her brother Chirte Gowda's warning, Rupa, a city-bred woman, falls in love with a young villager, Gopal and leaves home for him. Soon, Chirte Gowda decides to ruin Gopal's life.

Hagalu Vesha is a 2000 Indian Kannada -language film directed, written and scripted by Baraguru Ramachandrappa starring Shiva Rajkumar and Reshma.

Amruthamathi a kannada film is based on the story of Yashodhara Charite' an epic poem written by Janna, a famous 13th century A.D. Kannada poet. This Janna's epic poem is recreated and reinterpreted in this film with appropriate changes without diviating original essence of the story.
