Celebrated European actor Sophie Bernard is in Montreal shooting a movie, and she's taking the opportunity to visit her gay son Thomas in the hope of bridging the rift that's grown between them. But Thomas has his own agenda for their time together; he intends to finally get some answers as to the identity of his father. Meanwhile, at Ville-Marie Hospital, paramedic Pierre struggles with PTSD, and though he has support in Marie, a nurse who keeps the overflowing emergency room running, it's uncertain whether he'll remain able to cope with the high intensity of his work. Each of these four characters is dealing with emotional damage — and on one dark Montreal night, their lives will all intersect in a fateful occurrence at Ville-Marie.

Borderline, a film version of the novels Borderline and La Brèche, tells the story of Kiki at various stages of her life. With her mother institutionalized, she is raised by her grandmother, where left to her own devices, she takes refuge in school. Her life before 30 is a far cry from fairy-tale. Sex and alcohol are her only outlets and her daily reality. She goes through men one after another.

In fall 2018, the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal created the chamber opera Chaakapesh, a lighthearted story of the hero who founded the Innu people sung in three languages (Innu, Cree and Inuktitut) by Florent Vollant, Ernest Webb and Akinisie Sivuarapik. The orchestra then went on the road to perform the unique work in Quebec’s Far North, stopping in Kuujjuaq, Salluit, Kuujjuarapik, Oujé-Bougoumou, Mashteuiatsh and Maliotenam. Far more than just a concert film, Chaakapesh puts the audience front row centre as artists and communities come together in a remarkable cultural space. Through an immigrant cab driver, our world collides with a nervous filmmaker, a lawyer whose new breasts her ex-boyfriend wants to see, a mystery man, a gay man who might or might not have AIDS, and a birthday girl who got stood up. This film is first and foremost a documentary on the exploitation of the peat bogs of the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, which export most of their humus production to the United States: but the film is also the story of the exploitation of nature by man and of man by man.

Pierre Chamberland works as a journalist for a major daily newspaper and lives in the heart of the very popular Plateau Mont-Royal district. His brother François Chamberland, a young actor with limited talent, continues to dream of the day when we will eventually recognize his “tremendous” potential. Robert Gascon, François' best friend, is an eternal 30-year-old teenager with a nebulous past who lives on the hook of society. Finally, Anaïs Fontaine, Pierre's friend, talented freelance graphic designer, succeeds thanks to her strong personality to take her place among the three roommates. Even if Pierre and Anaïs are of the age of reason, they do not yet live together. Anaïs has her own apartment and Pierre shares his loft with François and Robert, when the latter are willing to leave him some space. The Plateau characters also have their meeting place, a small neighborhood pub where the charming Béatrice and the friendly Jean-Paul welcome our friends almost daily.
