In WW1 Germany, Australian citizens are pronounced 'Enemy Aliens', and their lives and whereabouts are controlled by the authorities. Wilf is taken from his University and placed on a rural farm, and then later imprisoned along with other foreigners as the war rages on across Europe.

Whilst awaiting the pronouncement of marriage, the groom recalls his entire relationship with the bride from their first meeting to the moment he proposed. As he reminisces, some unexpected emotions resurface.
