A jobless unambitious and lonely Suvo and a lonely teacher Mistu live in the same locality. In Suvo`s imagination, they meet and talk every day. But when she gets married to Somnath, he is hurt. Believing their meetings were true, he still waits for her in his dream and reality. In reality, she hangs herself.

Bhootiyapa revolves around a film crew documenting the untold stories of these ghosts, who, despite their spectral existence, have tales to tell about love, loss and laughter. Each ghost, from a different era, adds a layer of mystery and mirth to the story, revealing how life after death can be as vibrant and surprising as mortal life itself.
