On June 20, 1791, Louis XVI and his family attempt to flee the Tuileries and the still-raging Revolution… Inspired by the theatrical intrigues of Marivaux, they trade their royal garments for those of their servants. The result: navigating the manners and customs of the other becomes a true conundrum—both for the royal family and for their attendants.

1930, all of Paris was crystallized by a resounding trial: the pants trial. Indeed, Violette Morris, the impetuous and famous sportswoman of the 1920s, took legal action against the Automobile Club de France which withdrew her license. The cause: the insistent wearing of men's suits, pants.
