In the future, prisoners who have been sentenced to death are given a final privilege of living their favourite dream when they are executed. The story follows Connor, an execution robot, who starts to question his job as a mere killing machine when he nears expiration.

Cockney East End lad Barry Grieves is a young tennis player with a promising future. Lucy Roberts – a middle-class girl with the same raw talent – also has dreams of making a name for herself on the courts.
