Fifteen-year-old Suzanne seeks refuge from a disintegrating family in a series of impulsive, promiscuous affairs. Her fulsome sexuality further ratchets up the suppressed passions of her narcissistic brother, insecure mother and brooding, authoritarian father.

Between the wars, more than eight hundred young Polish women came to Indre-et-Loire to work as farm maids. Their story has come down to us thanks to the letters exchanged by their social worker, Julie Duval. Louis Clergeau, an artisan photographer, whose pictures are scattered throughout this film, gave them a face and a body. This film bears witness to this little-known part of French immigration and tells the bitter fate of these immigrants in the Touraine countryside, whose story still shakes us today.

Christian Argentino assisted Jacques Rozier for two years on the set of 'Fifi Martingale', his last feature. A close friend of the director and an admirer of his films, he made a documentary in which, unusually, we can see Rozier working and talking about his oeuvre. Also invited are several longtime collaborators (Jean-François Stévenin, Jacques Villeret, Yves Afonso, and Bernard Menez) to talk about Rozier and their experiences working with him.
