A faithful adaptation of the story of famous Lithuanian author Baltusis both in subject and artistic presentation. Three brothers Laurynas, Stanislovas and Antanas fall in love with one woman Kazyte and dramatic events make all three brothers go to jail for homicide, while she lives alone on their land.

After living in the city for ten years, Vilius returns to the farmstead, where his older brother Petras, the chief livestock specialist of the collective farm, still lives. An internal conflict with his brother, an overly energetic person, will not prevent Vilius from finding his place in life here.

A son returns to his parents in Lithuania after years of traveling over all USSR and brings with him his Ukrainian wife.
