Not even sexual fantasies are an escape from the hell he imposes on himself.

Rafal takes care of his dysfunctional carefree mother who is more interested in men, pills and alcohol than in the problems of her young yet very mature son.

Young Marcin wishes to escape his life in a village and make a career in a city.

As high school students put on a politically-engaged school play, tensions begin to rise between them and their headmaster. The conflict seems to mirror the social situation in the 1980s Poland.
