Albert Oehlen

Albert Oehlen steps behind the camera to present a portrait of himself, in life and at work, albeit substituted by actor and similarly brazen iconoclast Udo Kier, with musician Kim Gordon as his inner self, interviewer and judge.

Who is the world-famous artist Albert Oehlen, and why does he change bodies? A punk-rooted, Surrealism-infused brew of documentary and fiction, the magical with the banal, the outrageous with the subdued, and the sublime with the crass.

Inspired by conversations between Cezanne and his writer friend Joachim Gasquet, the film blends art, philosophy and landscape to approach the figure of the artist through the senses.
