During hard times in the Hong Kong film industry, an out-of-work actor talks a producer, writer, and an actor into making a movie together. They become gigolos to raise money for the production.

Ling-wu Chung, a senior student of the Wah Mount Sect, was not at all brilliant when he joined the Sect, but was soon taught to master the sword by a legendary swordsman Yeung. Chung’s master, Kwan, resented this and drove Chung away. In order to get hold of “Kwai Fa Bo Din”, the book on the most powerful martial art, Kwan diverts attention by secretly creating troubles everywhere. Chung, on the other hand, becomes the leader of the Hang Mount Sect by chance and falls in love with Kwan's daughter. When she betrays him, he turns to the daughter of the Devil Sect leader, and thus causes a love triangle between them.

The Ching family is an affluent family that produces textiles for the royal family, the govt officials and the army during the Tang Dynasty. Circumstances force the Ching's 4th son, Ching Chi Hin to marry Dun Ju, the daughter of a Tibetan general. However, their relationship is marred by misunderstandings and hatred for each other. One day she runs into Luk Dung Jaun, a Tibetan govt official on the streets of the Tang capital. He tells her he is on a secret mission and asks for her help, promising that he will take her back to Tibet once they have finished their mission. Their mission is to find the long-lost illegitimate son of the Tibetan Emperor. The clues to finding this person is a gold butterfly pendant, a piece of jade and a birthmark on the person's chest.
