Adapted from a novel by Larry Evans, Once to Every Man tells the tales of Danny Bolton, a pugnacious, hard-drinking country boy.

The story concerns the misadventures of sailor Steve Doren, who tries his best to support his wife Mary on his piddling income. But like seafaring men everywhere, Steve is constitutionally unreliable, especially when hip-swinging temptress Cassie Lang sashays into view.

A wealthy young athlete comes to the aid of a beautiful heiress, whose fortune is being threatened by two arch villains, The Great Master and Doctor Zulph.

Young Anne who lives with her stern uncle, is considered strange by the gossips of her village because she spends much of her time in the woods, where she has imaginary conversations with her deceased mother. When Jimmy, a crook is wounded after a robbery, he eludes the sheriff by hiding in a deserted mansion, unaware that the mansion is said to be haunted.
