Daniela Muñoz Barroso

Daniela is missing some sounds. Going deaf is one of her biggest fears. For a moment, reality takes the form of one of her nightmares.

Abstract blue paintings, blue-dyed lace and footage from her personal archive are interspersed with fragments of conversations, dream prints and personal memories of those who have experienced postpartum depression. The film was created together with the director by participants of her workshop on the cyanotype technique.

Filmmaker Daniela Muñoz Barroso has lost most of her hearing, and can barely hear high frequencies at all. She uses her eyes not only to see, but also to listen. And yet Barroso has developed a fascination for Gladys Esther Linares, aka Mafifa, a female musician who played the bell, a metal percussion instrument prominent in Cuban conga. Mafifa died 40 years ago, at a far-too-young age.

Walfrido Larduet, a lonely electrical inspector, dreams of the Red Woman, whose image persists and becomes an obsession. Something tells him she is near. Over the course of a day, Walfrido will follow her trail as he travels through the suburbs of an infested city.

Havana, 1993. A serial killer decapites cops. Mario, a disenchanted policeman, finds the head of the seventh victim...

Laboring in a Cuban ship graveyard, an almost apocalyptic world of fire and creaking sheets of steel, Pitufo dreams of a better life. An atmospheric, magical glimpse into a life on society's margins.
