Oriya artist Raju comes to a village to capture the beauties of nature in his canvas where he falls in love with Chumki. Phula, another village girl, also falls for Raju.

The film portrays the ambitions and struggles in a relationship among members of a middle-class family.

A young man is happy to hear the news that the local candidate is offering money to elect. This money will help him get married but he sacrifices the money for an ailing beggar.

A man from lower social background qualifies and gets an administration job and to match his higher social occupation, he leaves his family, friends, and fiance. But gradually he understands his mistake and returns for his people. Finally he finds his wrong decision for the mining in his village has lead to the destruction and down fall of his people and everyone lives the village and him behind alone.

Mrs. Iyer and her infant son are traveling to Kolkata with the help of photographer Rajah. When religious tensions flare up and the bus travelers become stranded under martial law, she makes a choice to save him that entwines their lives.

Every year, Ghunuram takes time off from his job to prepare for and appear in a folk dance in his village. His special part of the performance is called the Tiger Dance. This year is special, too; he hopes to become engaged to the daughter of his fellow performer. But a circus with a newly captured leopard has come into town. What's worse, the woman Ghunuram had hoped to woo has gone gaga over a circus performer. Not to be outdone, he prepares for a last, tragic, performance in which the tiger meets the leopard.
