Inge works in a department store as a saleswoman in the women's fashion department. She suffers from the cramped conditions in her parents' house, where they save money because her choleric father, a miner, dreams of owning his own house in the country. She despises life in the Ruhr area where the air is always sooty black and she is dissatisfied in her relationship with the miner Wolfgang. A sudden change occurs when her boss organizes a fashion show in the department store. He personally selects a group of female employees and sales assistants to appear as mannequins. Inge is praised for her figure and appearance and is even allowed to present the wedding dress at the end of the fashion show. Wolfgang wants to surprise her after the fashion show: he has also bought a motorcycle for her (on credit). Inge is short-tempered, however, as she and the other mannequins have been invited to a party at his house after the fashion show by the well-off Günther...

Germany at the time of the economic miracle: the boorish and equally rude Jupp Grapsch has made a small fortune through his bustling activities. His wife Lisbeth, on the other hand, does not feel comfortable with this, but silently accepts the circumstances. Even when Jupp gets involved with the somewhat disreputable Nina Sonntag, an extravagant young woman, she accepts this at first. At some point, however, the situation escalates and Lisbeth slips a slap in the face, which Jupp cleverly wants to use to finally get rid of his wife by divorcing her. But Lisbeth refuses and so Jupp hires an unscrupulous man to create a reason for the separation in exchange for money...

In this war drama, three Nazi survivors are rescued after their battleship sank. Initially they are given heroes' accolades for their courage, but then it becomes apparent that these men actually jumped ship three hours before the boat sank. The men are tried and subsequently executed.

The plot revolves around a gang of criminals, mostly former guards of Auschwitz, who print and distribute counterfeit U.S. currency in Berlin after World War II.

March, 1945: The insecure and hesitant reserve lieutenant Felix Bleck receives orders to lead a transport of 40 prisoners to the Western Front, where the men are to be burned up in a punishment battalion. On the way there, Bleck realizes the inhuman futility of his assignment and makes a fateful decision.
