A documentary dealing with the publisher Ebbe Carlsson's decision to start his own investigation on the murder of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme

Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme was openly shot to death on a February evening 1986 on the streets of Stockholm. In one night, the country of Sweden was transfigured. “Palme” is about his life, his time, and about the Sweden he had created. About a man who altered history.

Birgitta Dahl was involved in pushing through several of the gender equality reforms that we take for granted today: day care for all, general parental insurance, a ban on hitting children and a ban on rape within marriage.

In the 1980s, Säpo agent Jan-Henrik Barrling investigated the assassination of Prime Minister Olof Palme. He was dismissed from Säpo after becoming embroiled in a political scandal linked to Sweden’s Minister of Justice—the so-called Ebbe Carlsson affair. He was also accused of going behind the prosecutors' backs. For all these years, Jan-Henrik Barrling has been bound by a duty of confidentiality. Now, for the first time, he speaks about his work on the Palme murder case and about the wiretapping of a Soviet diplomat and spy—a recording that remains classified to this day.
