In 1750 Austria, a deeply religious woman named Agnes has just married her beloved, but her mind and heart soon grow heavy as her life becomes a long list of chores and expectations. Day after day, she is increasingly trapped in a murky and lonely path leading to evil thoughts, until the possibility of committing a shocking act of violence seems like the only way out of her inner prison.

While Germany in 1834 is simmering in every corner, the resistance led by Georg Büchner is working on the revolution. Heinrich Furrer secretly prints Büchner‘s revolutionary leaflet “Der Hessische Landbote“ in his brother Gustav‘s printing House, thus supporting the revolutionaries. Heinrich loves Minna. She wants to go to America!… and he‘s supposed to come with her. Everything could be so simple if Heinrich weren‘t living with Agnes, a former prostitute, if he had the necessary money and Minna wasn‘t married to his brother Gustav.

But his pitch is at first pathetic, then embarrassing and ends in a faux pas with a shitstorm. And so he and his colleagues are thrown out before they can even develop. When the completely inexperienced but fearless would-be influencer Luna Heribert discovers first in the viral video and then in real life in Linz, she makes him an offer because she knows: we are better together than alone!

The novel “Fitness” by anarchic poet Stefanie Sargnagel is to be made into a film. The only condition on the part of film funding: Sargnagel should play herself. Surfacing alongside the author are numerous actors from the Viennese cultural landscape in cameo appearances to satirically dissect the Austrian culture industry and its mechanisms.
