Putra, a 13-year-old boy living with asthma, dreams of one day playing for Indonesia’s national football team. It is Singapore in the late 1930s. Kai and Fei are childhood friends and aspiring violinists. When Japan invades Malaya in 1941, Kai chooses to forgo his music career to join the anti-Japanese forces. After the war Kai goes missing. Determined to find him, Fei performs all over Southeast Asia, all the while seeking any news of Kai. Yet, as time fades, Fei has to decide if she must find her own music to define the remaining years of her life.

Two stories intertwine: one of a workaholic father and his growing impatience with his young son as they make their way to a wayang kulit show and the other of a man who dotes on his son but secretly inflicts acts of abuse on his wife before he disappears after a violent incident.

Mickey Go Local is a 2019 webcast animated series and also a locally-produced animated series exclusively for the Southeast Asian market. Though the episodes premiered on Disney Channel Asia's official YouTube channel, the series began airing on Disney Channel in Southeast Asia as interstitials.
