Five days before the massacre at Oradour-sur-Glane, Philippe Gerbier, an officer in the Free French Forces, is parachuted in near the village. He is to lead a mission for the Resistance in preparation for the D-Day landings. There, he is reunited with Marie, his childhood sweetheart.

Berlioz is a young, overqualified man who can't find a job. In order to avoid being struck off the unemployment register, he accepts an offer of a highly responsible job removing all the push pins from the wall of an empty building.

In the sweltering summer heat, Marie is preparing for her bar exam. When the neighbor's cat falls to his death from his window, the young woman, in the midst of a paranoid crisis, tries to escape the potential witnesses to the tragedy...

To free themselves from the pressure and humiliation they endure at work every day, three colleagues plan to blow up their office. That night, with the building packed with dynamite and their plan ready to be carried out, something unexpected happens and throws their entire scheme into disarray.
