Set during 1980-1999 events in Gjakova, the most war torn town from the last war in Kosovo, the film is a drama told by Vigani, a 12 year old boy from Gjakova, who's voice over describes his and his family's life during these years.

Fahrije’s husband has been missing since the war in Kosovo so she sets up her own small business to provide for her kids, but as she fights against a patriarchal society that does not support her, she faces a crucial decision: to wait for his return, or to continue to persevere.

Dita, who, despite never aspiring to be a mother, finds herself compelled to raise her girlfriend’s two daughters—Mia, a tiny troublemaker, and Vanesa, a rebellious teenager. As their individual wills clash, a heartwarming story unfolds about an unlikely family's struggle to stay together.

Shoemaker is based on true events, taking place in the 90’s in the town of Gjakova, Kosovo, where political issues start getting worse and worse, in this way drastically affecting the life of the inhabitants. The story is told through the eyes of Edoni, whose mother dies leaving him at his age of 5 alone with his helpless father. The story passes over a decade and at his age of 15 he starts work at a shoemaker store to support him and his drunken father. His story narrates violence, child abuse, and overloaded work, yet also few beautiful moments he has with his lovely girlfriend, Riga.
