Surely though, he was way ahead of his times.

The docudrama uses the perspective of Horst Bubeck, who as a prison officer in the cell wing had the most intensive contact with the prisoners, to shed new light on the history.

Early in the morning, Tom Wesnik is driving home from a party with his wife Esther. At the entrance to their home village of Sarezin, they are confronted by an unsettling sight: A police roadblock blocks their way, patrol cars and fire engines line the main road, three coffins are being carried out of a house. Photojournalist Tom immediately senses a story and heads to the scene with his camera.

It's Felix birthday and his parents are at the door. Felix escapes through the backdoor and celebrates his special day like he wants: as a techno DJ in a dance club. One of his installed special effects is scaring the visitors that much, that they panic, leaving the club in a rush. The owner of the club gives Felix one more chance to pay back for the damage. Felix shall be the tour manager for Leon Rippy, a formerly well-known country musician. This might not be an easy task in times where country music seems to be kind of an antique thing. However Felix accepts the deal and an adventurous on-the-road experience throughout Germany begins.

In a bomb explosion in a parking garage, the architect's wife Anna is buried together with the writer Robert. The two seriously injured people are scarcely recovered from the rubble. When Anna falls in love with the charming Robert during a subsequent stay in a rehab clinic, she has to make a heavy heart decision between him and her family. "The love of my life" is a sensitive love melodrama with Aglaia Szyszkowitz, Hannes Jaenicke and Jan Gregor Kremp.

Dad is dead. For years he wanted nothing more to do with his children because they didn't agree with his lifestyle. Now daughter Linda alerts the three brothers Joschi, Jakob and Uli, and they all gather together with their spouses Fred and Franziska at the deathbed, which in this case is a new red sofa in the middle of the living room of the family home. The father, a former head physician, widowed for years and suffering from Parkinson's disease, had developed an exuberant old-age virility in which his nurse played no small role.

The body of a homeless man is found in Cologne not in the Dark Ages, but in the year 2000, where an autopsy reveals that he died of the plague. Doctor Martin Brügger sets out to find the cause and discovers masses of dead rats in the sewers. The population of the Rhine metropolis is in danger - but the authorities do not want to cause panic and keep the case a secret.

Franz, editor-in-chief of a large publishing house and no stranger to sadness himself, learns shortly before his wife Simone's death that she has been cheating on him. Stunned by this infidelity, he doggedly sets out in search of his rival. At Simone's funeral, a pimp turns up with two bodyguards and lays a wreath with the dedication 'With love - your tiger'. Franz wants to get to know this rival better and even follows him to his stately home in Andalusia.

A female corpse is washed up on the beach in Husum. Her fingertips were removed, and a piece of paper with a cell phone number was found in her throat, which belongs to the well-known political journalist Karl Kress.

Johannes Ganten, in his late 50s, known as John to his friends, leads a comfortable life as an emeritus professor. Everything has always come to him, which John takes for granted. He has never thought about anything until this morning - the Christmas holidays are just over - when he finds a note in his letterbox with the words: "Tomorrow you must die! Ganten doesn't really take the warning seriously. His old friend Peter takes a completely different view and can't understand John's attitude at all. Only the second warning and some very strange encounters gnaw away at Ganten's unshakeable self-confidence. The hours he then experiences change his life.

Things could truly be better for regionally successful entrepreneur Manfred Brenner in the mid-1980s. For Brenner, however, there is no reason to worry, because he is firmly counting on a breakthrough with his newly founded company FlowTex. With innovative horizontal drilling systems, he wants to revolutionize underground pipeline construction. But at first the big success remains elusive. He finally succeeds by relying on drilling systems and orders that don't even exist, piling up loan upon loan and leasing contract upon leasing contract. He uses charm and persuasion, and for a long time no one notices that Brenner is building a fraudulent consortium of companies with just a few helpers and a lot of falsified documents.

A murder in a Berlin zoo puts a policewoman on the trail of a mysterious series of murders that claimed the lives of several men in a Brandenburg village 20 years earlier. Based on Elisabeth Herrmann's novel of the same name, the film tells the story of a crime whose causes reach far back into the past and whose investigation could cost the investigator her future.

A Black Forest village in the 1950s. Liesbeth Steiner refuses to give up hope that her husband Max has survived the war and Russian captivity. She waits for every homecoming train, but to no avail. Liesbeth and her young son Josef found refuge on her parents-in-law's farm. It never became a home, as Max never told his family about his war marriage. His sister Margarete, who keeps the farm running, suspects that Liesbeth is an heiress. When Max is finally included in a late repatriation transport in 1955, Liesbeth hopes that different times are dawning. But Max has changed a lot over the years.

Jan Hinrichs is an experienced ship and salvage inspector. After the bankruptcy of his last employer, however, he is not above working as a simple diver. The widower has two children to support and soon a third eater is on board, as his daughter Lena is pregnant. The only problem is that Hinrichs is 55 and, in the eyes of the shipowners, too old for this job that requires bones and fitness. And so he pretends to be 10 years younger at a job interview. He falsifies his diving book and gets himself a fake passport. The world wants to be deceived. Now things are suddenly working out: Hinrichs does his job, he does it well and his boss is happy with him - for the time being.

At his son Konstantin's parents' evening, Philipp Gressmann meets Dolores Sturm - reluctantly, as he emphasizes several times. The woman is completely out of his league. Gressmann, very rich, lives in the posh West End, Dolores in a high-rise estate in the middle of a social hotspot in the city. He is horrified that their sons are supposed to be friends and that his ex-wife even approves of this. On leaving school, Dolores follows in his footsteps in order to escape two very shady characters, Taci and Ali. A turbulent journey through the night begins, in which these very different worlds meet. Gressmann experiences things he would never have dreamed of and has experiences he would rather have done without. His world, so finely ordered, begins to show considerable cracks. To his own surprise, Dr. Gressmann, who is otherwise so detached and coolly calculating, suddenly shows emotion.

Tatort is a long-running German/Austrian/Swiss crime television series set in various parts of these countries. The show is broadcast on the channels of ARD in Germany, ORF in Austria and SF1 in Switzerland.
