What happened behind the events of the early 90s that were quite surprising in Malaysia and at the same time had an impact on Nasir Jani's work in the following years? The documentary 'Nasir Jani Melawan Lembaga Puaka' follows the journey of this cult film-maker 'Kembara Seniman Jalanan' in reflecting on the complex culture of censorship in Malaysia. The clash of Mahathirism at the beginning of his reign to the ironic authoritarian culture, this documentary also responds to the supportive perspective of young filmmakers, Amanda Nell Eu and Steven Sarathbabu who struggle and dribble with the logic of censorship and what happens behind it.

Inspired by the iconic Malaysian singer and actor P. Ramlee, Ridhwan Saidi’s contemplative paean to Kuala Lumpur surveys a relationship that has ended through ruminative recollections that exist somewhere between a memory and a dream, while the city remains in a constant state of architectural and cultural change.

What is passion? What is pleasure? Actors and non-actors contemplate questions of the heart and play a game of word association, ruminating on definitions. And when words are inadequate, they employ movement. Drunk on life, art and a youthful honesty, characters reveal their inner worlds, relating a generation’s sensibilities.

Two women meet weekly to devise a performance on becoming their fictional characters. In this process personal stories co-exist with written texts, that leads to issues pertaining identity, nostalgia and longing.
