At 30, Oleg and Seryoga still dream of becoming rock stars. They play in a little-known band, live in a communal apartment, and are preparing for an important performance at a local festival. On the eve of the concert, they are unexpectedly approached by Oleg's uncle, a 50-year-old man with mental disabilities, whom the boys cannot leave unattended, not even for a minute.

Five dreams against the walls of a never-sleeping city. The film is a mosaic about the sleepers and the awakened. What kind of Muscovites are they? Thinking, contemplating, doubting, loving and dreaming? What they see when they close their eyes is more important than what they see when they open them.

Vasya is an elderly cloakroom attendant who has worked at the Moscow Art Theatre for many years. Posing as an actor, he tries to help two teenagers who love the theatre as much as he does get into the Moscow Art Theatre School. However, everything changes when a new female ticket collector learns of his secret.

Pasha, who has trouble making decisions, comes to his couple of friends to share important career news, but instead of support, he faces the worst possible choice: deciding which of them he will stay with after they break up.
