After the defeat of 1948, Mansour Dahshoury, nicknamed the Captain, gets known for his special incomprehensible abilities and magic with women. He wanders around Port Said and repeats the news from the war. The commandant tries to arrest him but he escapes every time.

It deals with the life of an Egyptian family across different generations in a comedic style of show. It presents the social and cultural changes between them, and the family tensions resulting from different customs and values, with a focus on humor and music to convey a message about adapting to time changes and maintaining family ties.

Set in Alexandria during the 1940s, at the height of the city's cosmopolitan golden age, Zezenia follows Bishr — the son of an Egyptian father and Italian mother — as he navigates a fractured sense of identity torn between East and West. Against a backdrop of World War II, mixed nationalities, and a society on the brink of change, the series is a sweeping portrait of love, belonging, and the soul of a city.
