Fiammetta Profili

In 1914, a cruise ship sets sail from Naples to spread the ashes of beloved opera singer Edmea Tetua near Erimo, the isle of her birth. Much has been told about Federico Fellini, but one chapter remains largely unexplored. It is the final decade of his life and artistic career. During the 1980s and 1990s, the film industry celebrated him while struggling to support his visions. The Maestro never stopped creating and fought to continue expressing himself. Sharing his dreams and extraordinary energy were exceptional companions: Roberto Benigni, Martin Scorsese, Nicola Piovani, Vincenzo Mollica, Milo Manara, and his inseparable secretary, Fiammetta Profili. Ultimo Fellini reveals the man behind the icon through three years of research, private archives, and previously unseen footage, beginning with the precious materials of Vincenzo Mollica.

Odd couple Ivo Salvini, recently released from a mental asylum, and former prefect Gonnella wander through the countryside and discover a dystopia made of television commercials, beauty pageants, rock music, Catholicism, and pagan rituals.

Federico Fellini welcomes us into his world of film making with a mockumentary about his life in film, as a Japanese film crew follows him around.

Six secretaries (Cesarina Marchetti, Paola Quagliero, Liliana Avincola, Anna Maria Scafasci, Resi Bruletti and Fiammetta Profili) delve into the past to tell us what it was like to work in the world of Italian cinema when our films used to clean up at award ceremonies, from Venice to Los Angeles, via Cannes. The documentary is a revealing flashback of their lives, both off and on-set, enriched by anecdotes, revelations, unpublished photographs and other curiosities related to some of the great classics.
