After surviving a lifetime of debilitating pain caused by sickle cell disease, Gabriel Badejo takes the greatest risk of his life by undergoing an experimental stem cell transplant in hopes of a cure. The Sickling follows Gabriel’s emotional and physical journey as he confronts systemic racism in healthcare, painful memories of medical neglect, and the global realities of living with an often invisible disease. From Toronto to Nigeria, the film explores the intersections of illness, identity, family, and survival while uncovering the historical inequities that continue to shape sickle cell care worldwide. At its heart, The Sickling is a deeply personal story about healing, resilience, and the fight to reclaim a future once thought impossible.

Coral Ghosts is the story of marine biologist Dr. Tom Goreau, whose life-long passion is to save corals, while on a mission to preserve his family archive of more than 7,000 photographs.

In the early 2000’s in Toronto , a group of young creative musicians collectively known as, Broken Social Scene, got together and soon became a worldwide phenomenon. Cinematographer and friend, Stephen Chung was there, behind the lens of his camera, capturing it all. Words were not his strong suit, but his camera was. Friendships, relationships, business and art… Stephen lovingly documents the highs and lows of a band who only wanted to create music on their own terms, and ended up changing everything. It is a celebration of the creative process, an homage to art and artists, and a love letter to the community and city which allowed it to thrive. With actual footage from a time before everyone had a camera in their pocket, It’s All Gonna Break is a time capsule showing how special those moments were, and how they helped form the people we are today.

The US detonated 67 nuclear weapons over the Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands during the Cold War, the consequences of which still reverberate down four generations to today. "NUKED," is a timely new feature documentary focussing on the human victims of the nuclear arms race, tracing the displaced Bikinian's ongoing struggle for justice and survival even as climate change poses a new existential threat. Using carefully restored archival footage to resurrect contemporaneous islanders’ voices and juxtaposing these with the full, awesome fury of the nuclear detonations, NUKED starkly contrasts the official record with the lived experience of the Bikinians themselves, serving as an important counterpoint to this summer’s Oppenheimer.

Directed by award-winning documentary filmmaker Leora Eisen, TVO Original Rescuing Rex unearths provocative truths about a world-wide phenomenon—international dog adoptions. A new social movement driven by a desire to do good, and fueled by irresistible puppy pics on Instagram, many millennials are bypassing breeders in favour of adopting homeless dogs from around the world. But what does this new trend mean for the animals, their caregivers and society? Told through the eyes of compelling human and canine characters, this film takes us from the mountains of Taiwan to the tarmac at Toronto’s airport, and from a rural kennel in Texas to an urban rooftop in Vancouver.
