Fedonas and Anastasia's life together is only just beginning; madly in love with plans for a family they find themselves a big house to start their new life. But when Fedonas decides to plant a palm tree in their backyard the garden gives up a long-buried secret and with it comes some unwanted attention from the police and the local mafia. Α company of musicians travel to the Greek island of Syros, the birth place of legendary folk musician Markos Vamvakaris, where they are invited to perform in an homage to his work. Parallel to this journey, all sorts of composers, musicologists, and artists from around the world reveal the musician’s important legacy in the 21st century, rendering his rebetiko sounds a constant source of inspiration and a reference point of modern culture. This is a documentary about the influence of Markos on the contemporary soundscape of Europe.

An approach to the phenomenon of Thanasis Vengos, the man and the artist, through film excerpts, testimonies of his collaborators and relatives and analyses of his symbolic role in the post-war modern Greek reality. Thanasis Vengos, for more than fifty years, was one of the most important actors in Greece. His films and lines are written in history, raising more than three generations of Greeks.
