In the mid-1960s, Kostas left his village in Crete dreaming of becoming a star. His rugged physique and humble background afforded him only small “tough-guy” roles, yet in numerous Greek films – from big studio productions and renowned auteur masterpieces to low-budget exploitation films alike. By placing a support actor at centerstage, the film traces five decades of Greek cinema.

Under the scorching sun of the rugged Greek countryside, the young star-crossed lovers, Aggelos and Irini, dare to dream of a better future in dazzling but faceless Athens. Amid fear and prejudice, the couple has planned everything down to the last detail; however, the lack of money, and a momentary lapse of judgment, will condemn the two companions to a life of misery, as every police officer from their small village to the bustling capital is already informed of Aggelos' crime. Now, they have no other choice but to swallow their pride and hide. But, the road to Athens is long and perilous, and only God knows what dangers lie ahead. Will the runaway lovers ever find happiness?

They grew up in the same neighborhood but the problems of that time had the consequence that when they were ten years old they separated and since then they have not met again. The years passed, the two children grew up and went their own way. He opened a funeral home, but feels very lonely because he has not been able to start a family of his own. Eleana is a prostitute who appears to have been abused when she was younger. During her daily encounters with various clients, she meets a young labourer called Christos whom she momentarily tries to develop a normal relationship with. Old habits die hard and she soon hits the streets again but it's too late, Christos has become infatuated with Eleana and plans to marry her. Gradually, the pressure and stress of the situation starts to take it's toll on Eleana's sanity and leads to a surreal, nightmarish climax!
