Three young men with very different personalities. When they leave the big city to return to the thousand-year-old village of Yunnan, they each begin a crazy and dream journey.

Qiao Yan, born in a border town in southwest China, becomes a star actress after much effort and struggle. But despite her aura of glamour, she always feels hidden pressure. When she receives a threatening anonymous letter, her long-estranged sister suddenly comes to see her.

When a murder occurs in a small town in Southeast China, a local mechanic, known for his honesty, comes under suspicion. When the police target him to take the fall, he’s forced to try and exonerate himself, uncovering a number of disturbing facts, most much bigger than the initial crime.

The film is based on seven true stories from the front line of poverty alleviation. These seven stories reflect the different strategies of poverty alleviation models of the country in the context of the general era: insurance poverty alleviation, green poverty alleviation, education poverty alleviation, rural e-commerce poverty alleviation, employment poverty alleviation, industrial poverty alleviation and technology poverty alleviation.
