"One pure peaceful sky, one bright southern sun, one warm Black sea and deep true friendship of burning hearts connect the Soviet and Romanian youth..." A musical ensemble of Romanian students dreams of being selected for a competition in Sochi, Russia. They hear rumors that a Russian ship with a festival talent scout will be arriving in the port of Constanta. The band sets up for a performance at the harbor, in hopes of attracting the scout’s attention immediately upon arrival. A case of mistaken identity leads to a series of complications involving a suitcase, two small-time gangsters, a blonde tourist, and the band’s drummer. This attempt at a plot conforms of course to the conventions of romantic musical comedies, resulting in a film full of song and dance. With memorable song titles like “Yes, I am an umbrella” and “Let’s play my guitar”, this Romanian-Soviet co-production is as silly as it is irresistible.

The film consists of three novellas that tell about the happy and joyful lives of Soviet children.

A toboggan train is coming to the village from the construction site of a drilling rig: a tractor pulling a carriage on a snowy track. Alice-type Soviet girl, named Olya meets her counterpart Yalo, while looking into the mirror. Yalo is an absolute antipode to Olya: where Olya is precise and neat, Yalo is absent-minded, careless, etc. The explicit plot relates to Olya learning to see herself differently, but this occurs through an experience in the Kingdom of Crooked Mirrors which serves as a mechanism for commenting on the ability of a society to manufacture a false reality.

After graduating from the Faculty of Geology, Vasiliy Ruban goes to Transcarpathia, where he will take part in a prospecting expedition, the object of which is oil fields. A business trip of a young man turns into a quarrel with his girlfriend, who dreams of a graduate school in the capital. Despite the assurance of an experienced engineer in the absence of oil deposits, Vasiliy continues his search, which turns into an unexpected discovery of oily spots in the waters of the river. At the same time, the geologist meets Kseniya, a local girl who has won the heart of a man.
