Filmed over the course of two years to capture the mood of Irish surfing throughout the seasons. "Sea Fever" is an insight film into the surf culture developed in Ireland over the last 40 years. With dramatic footage from Ireland's giant wave Aileen's (Aill na Searrach) at the 700-foot Cliffs of Moher and close-up interviews with the troubadour surfers that brave these 40-50-foot waves to Kevin Cavey and the early pioneers of the 1960s and 1970s with their rudimentary equipment and spirit of adventure, "Sea Fever" sets out to capture the character and craic of Irish surfing. "Sea Fever" features John McCarthy, Mickey Smith, Sam Lamiroy, Mole Joel, Easkey Britton, Kevin Cavey, and Rod "dolphin man" Bennett.

The personal story of one man’s relationship with dolphins; a relationship that has evolved over the last 20 years that Ken O’Sullivan has been a natural history film-maker, through countless hours he has spent in their presence, and in their world. It is also a broader examination of the human cultural relationship with dolphins. Few creatures stir our emotions and imagination in the way that dolphins do, and in the same way Ken’s relationship with them has become more nuanced and complex over the years, the film explores the shifting pubic attitudes towards them. We are no longer comfortable to keep these highly intelligent social animals confined in aquaria, or romanticise and simplify their complex lives, but where has our perception of dolphins settled and are we getting closer to understanding the true nature of these creatures? This film has been a true passion project for Ken, I hope you will find it beautiful, thought provoking and enlightening.

Inspired by the spirit of adventure of early explorers like St Brendan the Navigator, Irish underwater cameraman Ken O’Sullivan voyages out into the open North Atlantic in search of the great sea monsters described in the explorers’ early texts which may well have been large whales. Over the course of the film, such encounters reveal how enlightenment and awareness dispel the myths and damage of the darkness of our historic perceptions.

Ireland’s Deep Atlantic sees underwater cameraman Ken O’Sullivan embark on a series of voyages out into the open North Atlantic in search of large whales, sharks and cold water coral reefs 3,000 down on Ireland’s deep sea bed. The two-part series will document many of these creatures’ behaviour for the first time in any TV program and investigate the health of our deep Atlantic waters.
