In this well-photographed and sometimes confusing wartime drama, an Austrian village experiences the tragedy of war on several different levels. Within one family, the younger son is jealous of the praise his father gives to a Polish POW who is working for them under very difficult conditions. Within the village as a whole, the French, Polish, and Russian POWs are kept under guard by Nazi soldiers, creating a tense situation all around. But more importantly, the village has conspired to hide an Austrian deserter in a cave up in the mountains. This act of rebellion on the part of the deserter and the village hangs in a precarious balance that could be upset by a single traitorous comment to the Gestapo.

Annas Mutter

Based on the actual case of Marianne Bachmeier from 1981, the film tells the story of a mother who in a calm and determined manner shoots the murderer of her daughter seven times in the court room.The man dies at the crime scene. The media jumps at this tragedy and Bachmeier′s action is even spontaneously applauded by some. But soon, the attractive woman is cast under a pall when the media starts to look for "disclosing" details from her private life.

Hauptmann Kreutzer

Bundeswehr Captain Andreas Kreutzer deserts and sets off for Denmark. In Puttgarden, however, he is met by two military police officers who escort him onto the train back to Munich. On the way, the two bank robbers Ross and Schweiger board the train. They feel threatened by the soldiers and shoot them. When the train stops, Kreutzer is forced to flee with the two gangsters. Schweiger is shot dead and Kreutzer finds himself in a bizarre twist of fate with Ross.

After a murder that Späh commits, but of which Robert seems suspicious, Robert actually flees to America, but not with Iris, but with Anna, who has since gotten wind of the affair. Robert and Anna marry in Las Vegas, and it is only back in Munich that Robert finds out about his inheritance. Robert leaves Anna, Späh shoots Kuhl and there is a showdown between Robert and Späh on a French island.

Marienhof

Marienhof is a German soap opera, first shown on October 1, 1992 on German TV channel, Das Erste. It started as a weekly series, before becoming a daily program on January 2, 1995. The show was canceled in February 2011 and aired its last episode on June 15, 2011. In the 90s, the Marienhof became a huge success in Finland and remained a fan favorite until it was canceled to license problems. Over the years, the show became known for tackling several social issues, such as homosexuality, homelessness, private bankruptcy, rape, drug abuse, AIDS, child abuse, suicide, cancer, adultery and murder. The show focuses on the everyday life of the residents of the Marienhof, a fictional suburb in Cologne.

The series, located in Frankfurt am Main, features two main characters who solve crimes: a defense attorney and a private investigator. Josef Matula, a former German police officer, has gone into private business. His method of investigation is very effective and direct, and he sometimes even resorts to dirty tricks. Claus Theo Gärtner has portrayed the role since the start of the series.

Die Kommissarin

Die Kommissarin is a German police TV series which aired on Das Erste. Its 66 episodes ran from 1994 till 2006. The series, which takes place in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, is notable as being the first, and as yet one of the few commercially successful, German detective series to have a female lead character. The main character is Inspector Lea Sommer, played by Hannelore Elsner. Sommer is divorced with custody of her teenage son, Daniel. She is looking forward to a new relationship with her new boyfriend, Jonathan. Although Lea and Jonathan telephone each other frequently, he has never actually been seen or heard on screen. Sommer was originally paired with Nick Siegel, but in a 1996 episode, Siegel was shot to death by an escaping criminal. His last words were "Lea, ich fühle mich so kalt". Sommer's current partner officer is Jan Orlop. Die Kommissarin airs on the German Language channel German Kino Plus in the United States. In Finland it airs on YLE TV2 under the title Etsivä Lea Sommer.
