A group of young, ambitious candidates for a special police unit in Baden-Württemberg are driven to perform at their best. One of them is 23-year-old Rebecca Henselmann, who will soon be deployed in undercover operations. She works hard and is ambitious, just like her colleague Christoph Laurin, whom Rebecca is getting to know. The young policewoman is highly motivated in her operations against drug and arms trafficking. In the process, she encounters abuses of power and encounters right-wing extremist attitudes in the police force too.

"I had intended that each of the roughly 60 shots would be static, without even the imperceptible correction pans normally used in such cases. Every shot was to be a tangent, of which one must put an infinite number around a circle if it is to be calculated incrementally. The next day the newspapers are full of reports about a newly discovered German masterpiece from the silent era. It seems that Matthies had luck. He just saw *the* film everybody is talking about now. Also everybody is speculating about its director, who remains unknown. When Matthies talks to Ackrewa, an old befriended projectionist, about the film, the latter seems to recall the name of the director. Matthies decides to research the case. An odyssey into film-history begins and if it is successful Matthies will come up with a top story.

LKA-Zielfahnderin Hanna Landauer and her new colleague Röwer travel to Montevideo to find the couple Tezlaff. They once kidnapped an industrialist and extorted a 10 million ransom. The money has since disappeared, alongside a third unknown hostage taker.
