The fifth film in a Mosfilm "youth" anthology series comprising three short stories. The first story, 'Vizit' (The Visit), directed by filmmaker turned politician Yevgeni Gerasimov, tells the story of a rural boy visiting his former village girlfriend, now living in Moscow. Next comes a short film by Aleksandr Majorov called 'Zolotye rybki' (Goldfishes), which is based on a story of a magical goldfish brought from a provincial pet store by the late Russian historian and science-fiction and fantasy writer Kir Bulychyov. The final segment and the title of the film, 'Polosa vezeniya' (Streak of Luck), tells the story of a member of staff at a research institute who is offered the job of department head but has second thoughts when he discovers the previous boss was unfairly dismissed.

Once a baby elephant found a pencil in the forest, on which were wound wonderful ribbons. And since he was terribly disturbed by ears, he decided to tie them with ribbons and immediately became like a girl. A small hippopotamus was very interfered with by the stomach, and the second ribbon, which the elephant lent him, he tied his torso to himself. The giraffe took friends for the girls, but they explained that they were boys, just tied themselves up what they were prevented from moving and playing. Then the giraffe also decided to keep up and bandaged his neck so that he would not cling to the clouds. When the cheerful trio met a real girl with long hair, she told them that it was her ribbons, and that without them, her hair hindered her very much.

6-grader Kolya Gerasimov discovers a time machine in a basement of an old house in Moscow and gets transferred into the 21st century. There he is allowed to look around. Accidentally, Kolya witnesses two space pirates who arrive from Saturn and later try to steal a device called a "Mielophone" (which can read thoughts) from Alisa Seleznyova - a girl that performs experiments with this device and animals. Kolya manages to save the device from the pirates and brings it back to the 20th century. But both pirates and Alisa get there too.
