Afonya Borshev is a plumber who drinks a lot, flirts a lot and doesn't care too much about tomorrow. His wife left him, his boss placed him on probation, his whole life is falling apart, but he doesn't realize it. Big changes are coming to the life of twelve year old Masha after vacations on Kamchatka island. The second part of Soviet filmmaker Sergei Bondarchuk's epic biography of John Reed. It is October 1917 and the American journalist has found himself and his wife, Louise Bryant, in Petrograd on the eve of the Bolshevik revolution.

Young lieutenant arrives to tank regiment stationed in the Central Asia. He uses unusual for Soviet Army methods to train his soldiers. It predictably leads to tensions with superiors and subordinates. However later it pays back during live exercises.

The main character, nineteen-year-old Anastasiy Chizhov, was appointed commander of the Zver patrol ship. Under his leadership, the old fishing vessel becomes a strong fighting unit.

In the territorial waters of the USSR, the team of a border ship recorded a deviation from the agreed course of a foreign vessel. During the inspection of the incident, it turns out that the offending vessel threw an object overboard. The border guards, with the help of a journalist assigned to them, establish that this is a radio beacon belonging to one of the Western intelligence services. The commander of the border ship Chaika, realistically assessing the threat that such a transmitting device poses to the country's defense, decides to prevent its removal, for which he simulates a breakdown of the ship...
