The Drum is a short film that follows the journey of Kang, a recently retired man in his 60s dealing with the sudden onset of a late-life crisis. He realises that he must mend old conflicts and learn to accept his new life or risk losing himself in the emptiness of old age.

A young unemployed man has difficulty communicating with his girlfriend. As he struggles to cope with his fragile state of mind, a series of mysterious killings unsettles the residents of Block 142B. Some claim to have seen a tiger roaming in the estate. Adapted from Dave Chua’s ‘The Tiger of 142B’, from the book ‘The Beating and Other Stories’.

Digging deep into the underbelly of familiar neighborhoods in Singapore to shine a light on a side of the island that is rarely seen, this series of short stories reveals the fascinating perspectives of several marginalized, alienated characters who live within the same public housing estate.
