The young American actor Carl Erikson is the darling of the moment. Whilst in Paris on business, he is signing autographs, including one for Paulette Nanteuil, the actress all the rage in France but a complete stranger to Carl. Charmed by the young woman, he hopes to see her again, but she had given him a false name – that of her friend, Claudine André, a journalist. Meanwhile, Carl Erikson has an interview scheduled with Philippe de Morannes, editor-in-chief of ‘Paris-Soir’ and Paulette’s lover. To thank him for granting him the interview, Philippe unwittingly becomes an accomplice of fate by offering him a ticket to Paulette’s show. Carl sneaks into her dressing room, and Paulette, swept away, gives herself to him for a night of passion. Should she leave Philippe or break up with Carl? Will Philippe succumb to Claudine’s charms, even though she herself is not taken with Carl?

A high school in the thirties: most of the students are leaving for the Easter holidays. However, one of them,Brassier, an A -student ,stays for sentimental reasons. Yes, Doudou (or, more respectfully, Edouard Doucin) is both heir to a big sugar refinery and its managing director but he is also an incorrigibly bashful bachelor, which just exasperates his aunt Agatha. Summoned to marry as soon as possible, Doudou is fortunate enough to meet Babette , an elegant young lady who wishes to introduce him to her parents. When he comes to visit them, he mistakes the floor out of nervousness. In fact,he finds himself at the Lautiers' not the Olivaros'. Now, chance has it that this couple of shopkeepers also have a marriageable daughter. And as Poupette is romantic, passionate and adorable, Doudou can't find the nerve to disappoint her. As a result the young man gets engaged...twice ! How the devil will he cope ?

Mammy has a grandson she adores even though he is a good for nothing. One day Maurice disappears and Mammy becomes blind. When Maurice finally announces his return the fond old lady is overjoyed. Unfortunately, Maurice's plane crashes and catches fire. The young man is reported missing, presumably dead. Pierre, Mammy's husband, can't bring himself to announce such a shocking news. Desperate, he finds no other solution than subterfuge : he will ask a young couple to pass themselves off as Maurice and his girlfriend.
