The story of the life of the Podolsk village and what the inhabitants of the village had to go through during the years of Soviet power. Through the fate of the heroes, the film tells about the events of collectivization in the village, where for centuries, everyone used to work only on his own farm, about the war years, when many quiet people showed miracles of heroism, and universal favorites became nazi puppets.

The prototype of the hero of the film - Soviet Ukrainian writer Yaroslav Galan, who devoted the last years of his life to exposing the Greek Catholic Church and the Ukrainian nationalists.

Poetic treatment of the early life of Ukrainian poet and painter Taras Shevchenko. A biopic made on the occasion of his 150th anniversary. It dwells on the first part of the Shevchenko's life leading up to the writing of his rebellious poem "A Dream" (A comedy).

Oksana (played by Sofia Rotaru) is a young and beautiful Carpathian girl. On the "Donetsk-Verkhovyna" train she becomes acquainted with a young miner from Donetsk called Boris. The travellers fall in love, but are parted when they arrive at their destination. In the Carpathian mountains their paths diverge, but Boris (played by Vasyl Zinkevych, soloist of the instrumental band "Smerichka") discovers where she is staying. The couple meet again and rekindle their love. Their friends invite them to perform in a concert for vacationers at a mountain resort, where they sing about their feelings for each other.

David Motuzka, demobilized Red Army soldier, returns to his native village, hoping to see the changes caused by the revolutionary events. But he cannot see no improvement. The village is ruled by the kulaks and David's childhood friend Kornii Matiukha helps them.

Andrii Troian and Volodymyr Ruban once studied together at an agricultural academy. Ruban transferred to the correspondence program and went to work in a village. While pursuing postgraduate studies, Troian developed a new wheat variety called Maria. After becoming director of a state farm, Ruban invites Troian to serve as chief agronomist in order to test the wheat in practice. Their relationship proves difficult: conflicts arise over methods and styles of leadership. Troian’s personal life is equally complicated – particularly his relationship with the schoolteacher Maria…

The action of the film takes place in winter Kyiv. After a sleepless night, a young composer goes for a walk through a snowy city in search of inspiration for a new melody; its route passes against the background of many sights of the capital. On the way, the hero observes city life and nature, people, near the maternity hospital he pulls out a happy young father who has fallen into a coma, and he notices a girl in a trolleybus. She is in a hurry in her affairs, and the enthusiastic composer follows her relentlessly. And every sound he hears becomes part of a new melody for him. The finale of the film is a panorama of Kyiv to the song "Two Colors".

Based on the short story by Oles Honchar. A budding romance, on the verge of blossoming into love, develops between two young people—Petro and Olga—who are just beginning their independent lives. But an unexpected gunshot in the nature reserve, which kills a swan, shatters the young couple’s potential happiness...

Katya and Grisha lived in a big city. Grisha was older than Katya, but he respected her and did not hide his secrets from her. And I did not notice at all how the girl was growing up and how completely different feelings were born to her.

Many years brings the collective-farm postman Arina post to home folks. This village in one corner is calledl; Chistuy Kolodets; in other ; Chistaya Krinitsa Russians and Ukrainians live there. Arina's stories about village people and the contemporaries create big story which in many recalls their favourite songs.

XVIII century. In the town square of Lviv, Ukrainian city under the Austrian yoke, there is a trade in humans. This displeases Cossacks led by student Maxim Zaruba, for which the rioters arrested. Showing ingenuity and resourcefulness, heroes seize the ship, attacking the fortress and freed slaves.

A tronka, a sheep bell made from a trophy shell casing, symbolises peace from war. In the Ukrainian steppe, where shepherds use tronkas, a military training ground exists. Major Uralov, an officer, marries a local woman, and they have a daughter, Alenka, who dies. After her death, the Uralovs leave the steppe with the military unit, enduring their grief but remaining unbroken. Based on a novel by Oles Honchar.

Based on the short story by Oles Honchar. In high spirits and eagerly anticipating the start of the season, hunters set off for the picturesque Lake Chary-Kamyshi, once teeming with game. But the lake is no more. Since the last hunting season, a highway has been built across it, the lake has silted up, and there is hardly any game left...

But no one even suspects that an old German ammunition depot is hidden nearby, underground. An accidental explosion would suit the British company that lost the order to the Russians. Weber, Greerson, and Gedda are faced with a problem: they need to warn the Russians about the danger. Each of them has had encounters with Soviet people in their lives...
